Message from the Director: Ann Bynum, Ed.D.
The
UAMS Rural Hospital Program has reason to celebrate this year! We embarked
on a new collaboration with the College of Medicine to form the Center for
Distance Health. The ANGELS program in the College of Medicine and the Rural
Hospital Program are dedicated to improving health outcomes for the citizens
of Arkansas, using telehealth technology to address some of the most
challenging health problems. By combining the programs and working together,
we are able to achieve benefits that neither program can accomplish alone.
As we enter into a new era of service, we will continue
to strive to strengthen rural hospitals, foster partnerships, support rural
providers and advocate for the health of residents throughout the state.
The Center will allow UAMS to truly be
knowledge exporters. The UAMS Rural Hospital Program will benefit by being a
partner in the Center for Distance Health through collaborative planning,
skillful management, leveraging resources and the teamwork of dedicated
participating professionals. It allows the melding of technical and
operational complexities to produce a more efficient functioning telehealth
program.
Our Rural Hospital Program team
continues to work on new programs to meet the needs of Arkansas citizens.
The partnerships with community hospitals provide up-to-date continuing
education for health care professionals wherever they may be in Arkansas. We
are very pleased to share with you a glimpse of our remarkable programs that
serve to “reach out” to every corner of the state.
